Suspension of JUNSU/JEJUNG/YUCHUN's Activities in Japan

We would like to inform you that the Japanese activities of JUNSU/JEJUNG/YUCHUN, exclusive artists of Avex Entertainment Inc. (100% subsidiary of our company, head office in Minato district, Tokyo), will be suspended for the time being.

This is with regards to the reports that the representative of JUNSU/JEJUNG/YUCHUN's current Korean management agency, CJeS Entertainment Co., Ltd. Inc., whose father holds a high position in the mafia. The said representative has used his father's strength to blackmail artists and has served a term in prison, under charges of duress. We have therefore conducted a research for the facts.

According to the results, the relations with the mafia are unclear. However, all the other reports as written above have been proven to be true.

In addition to that, the procedure of the exclusive contract title for JUNSU/JEJUNG/YUCHUN is now under dispute in Korea. There is a high possibility that the exclusive contract itself between our company and the three will become void.

Our company places great importance in compliance and business policy in observing corporate ethics. We have decided to pause the management of their activities until these problems have been solved.

We highly regret that we have caused the fans that are supporting JUNSU/JEJUNG/YUCHUN great worry concerning the reports mentioned. Moreover, we appreciate your kind understanding to our company's decision as above.

Concerning the product releases and the services currently being provided, there will be no changes made. Additionally, there is no change to the exclusive contract of Tohoshinki (5 members), whose managed by SM Entertainment.

As we have consistently stated, we will, with all our might, give our support, so that Tohoshinki’s activities can be resumed.

[TRANS] 100916 JYJ “Already Knew” Of Avex’s Decision Beforehand

It has been found that the TVXQ trio (consisting of Xiah Junsu, YoungWoong Jaejoong and Micky Yoochun) already knew beforehand of Avex’s decision to halt JYJ’s activities in Japan.

Through JYJ’s homepage, Avex announced that “Avex will be stopping JYJ’s Japanese activities for the time being.”

Regarding this, JYJ’s spokesperson Prain stated that, “We were already aware of JYJ’s Japanese agency Avex’s decision.”

Following this, they added that, “We are currently discussing the finer details,” and “We will be releasing an official statement tomorrow morning.”

[TRANS] 100916 Official Notice From Avex With Replies From C-JeS And Prain

JUNSU/JEJUNG/YUCHUN will be halting all activities in Japan for the time being.

The management company in Korea representing JUNSU/JEJUNG/YUCHUN, C-JeS ENTERTAINMENT CO.,LTD’s representative was reported to have been found guilty of using his father’s power and ties with gangs to blackmail the artist he was responsible for, and served time for coercion. Avex has been investigating the validity of news reports, and it was found that, though the speculations of the head’s ties with gangs cannot be verified, the rest of the report stated above was factual.

Also, as the exclusive contract lawsuit is still progressing for JUNSU/JEJUNG/YUCHUN in Korea, the probability of our company’s exclusive contract with the company being invalid has become higher.

As our company focuses on compliance, to comply with our business ethics and policies, until this issue has been resolved, we have decided not to continue with the management of the artists’ activities in Japan.

To all the fans that support JUNSU/JEJUNG/YUCHUN, we offer our deepest apologies for the news that have caused you worry. In addition, regarding the companies above decision, we hope that you will grant us your understanding.

With regards to the scheduled release of products and services that are ongoing, there will be no changes as of now. Also, SM Entertainment’s management states that there has been no change in the exclusive contract for the 5 members of Tohoshinki. As our company has often mentioned, we will continue to try our best to re-start Tohoshinki’s activities.

The Korean company currently responsible for managing JUNSU/JEJUNG/YUCHUN's activities in Japan is C-jeS CO.LTD. It was reported that the legal representative of this company has been taking advantage of his father's previous status as a gang leader to threaten and coerce the artists under its label. He has already been has been found guilty of, and sentenced to prison on charges of coercion. With regards to the allegations mentioned above, Avex has conducted thorough investigation, and whilst there is no legitimate evidence to prove for certain that the said legal representative has links with the mafia, reports on threats and coercion were found to be true.

At the same time, there is a possibility that JUNSU/JEJUNG/YUCHUN's contract with Avex may be voided as a result of developments in their Korean exclusive contract lawsuit.

Avex holds heavy regard for both the legal and ethical implications of its management guidelines, thus until a clear resolution has been found, we will discontinue our management of the trio's activities.

To fans who have continued to support JUNSU/JEJUNG/YUCHN, we would like to express our apologies for the concern and apprehension this news must have brought you, but we hope that you will understand the decisions we have made.

There will be no changes in our plans for scheduled releases and ongoing activities. Similarly, no changes will be made to the contract we have negotiated with SM Entertainment for Tohoshinki's activities as a 5 member unit. Avex will continue to work towards the comeback of Tohoshinki, just as we have done in the past.

[TRANS] 100916 Tohoshinki Trio Halts Activities in Japan

Avex announced on 16 September that Tohoshinki members Jejung, Yuchun and Junsu’s Japanese activities with be suspended until further notice.

Avex expressed that the management company the trio’s management company and legal representative in Korea, C.JeS, has been found guilty of, and sentenced to prison on charges of coercion. As the trio’s lawsuit in Korea with regards to the exclusive contract is still pending, the chances that the exclusive contract is invalid has increased.

Avex stated that until these issues are resolved, they have decided not to continue with the management of the artists’ activities in Japan. The trio, for the time being, have decided to halt all activities.
