[TRANS] Keeping the Faith

No matter how brutal reality may be, we will not run from it.

Habits are frightening. When something becomes a habit, you take it for granted, and then there comes arrogance and prejudice. Once you grow used to seeing celebrities flashing their dazzling smiles at the camera, you'll scorn at any display of annoyance or irritation; once you grow used to seeing these people as your role models, you'll refuse to accept any inapt behaviour. Once you've grown used to all of these things, reality becomes difficult to bear.

Scandal is scandal, it has no relation to truth whatsoever.

The one thing you cannot control in this world is the voice of the public. It may not be the voice of authority or the true voice of the majority. It is nothing more than a voice who claims to represent the majority.

Scandals are scandalous because we make them that way. We see what we want to see and say what we want to say. The only place in this world where the 'truth' hold holds value is in the courts of justice. This is the kind of world we live in, 'truth' is a tool we use to achieve the things we want, and we'll toss it aside as soon as we're done.
It's true that what doesn't break you makes you stronger.
It would be a shame if anticipation became demand.
You look up to and idolize those boys because they're everything you're not.
You want them to be perfect, and that is exactly what they become to you.
You want to be proud of them so that you can take pride in being a fan.
You feel like their pride is no different from yours, and so you want them to do their very best in everything.
And because you want them to do their very best, doing their best becomes an obligation that you demand them to fulfill.

Eventually being a 'fan' distorts into something else altogether.

It's the same as how the elderly take it for granted that people should offer their seats to them. It's an obligation, not a virtue.

When you play with children, it is your responsibility to feign defeat or to deal with their crying. It seems as though accepting defeat is not a trait of our nature. The root of this resentment is our tendency to compare. Everybody likes to compare. Comparison isn't such a bad thing, it's a means of putting your strengths and weaknesses into perspective. But when comparing morphs into competition, you'll be met with your destruction.

People who are unwilling to reveal their weaknesses and vulnerability seldom receive any sympathy.
Just because someone doesn't wallow in self-pity doesn't mean that they're any more fortunate or any less deserving of sympathy.
If you see someone fall or faint in the middle of a road, you'll walk over and help them up. But how about the people who pretend to have it easy? How about the people who silently overcome obstacle after obstacle, all the way until the end? How about the people who refuse to collapse until after they've completed their duty and have moved out of sight?

It all looks so easy when you're not the one living it.

We support because we approve and we approve because of the expectations we had to start with. People who work to satisfy expectations naturally receive support.
Purity, cuteness and sexiness, these are things that we like and approve of.
But what about them? The pressure of a comeback leave them with no choice.

When they don't approve of something, they'll just tell you 'I don't know' because that's really all there is to say. Nothing less, nothing more.
If people demand an apology, well then that's what they'll get.

Sometimes simple gestures speak louder than the songs that they stay up at night to work on. But does that mean that they should give up writing songs and be satisfied with winning people over through mere fan service?

If they fall over and tell us they're okay, we'll forget about it and move on.
If they're struggling to get to sleep but choose to stay up and compose anyway, we'll think nothing of it and move on.
If they tell us they're okay, then there's no longer a need to fight and defend them. People move on.

This is the kind of world we live in: children who cry get the attention they want.

Do they really have to have a motive behind everything they do?
When rumours of them being violent to their fans circulate, when they wear a few layers less of clothing, people jump to the conclusion that they do it to boost their popularity. Does it always have to come to that?

What is Dong Bang Shin Ki?
The love of our lives, the money making tool of large corporations, the dirt in the eyes of antis…
But to our boys, they are nothing more than artistes
It doesn't matter what other people think because they are living their dream
The Dong Bang Shin Ki we see on stage is who they really are
They're not smiling to please anyone, they are genuinely happy.

There's no way we'll ever live the same glamorous lives,
and there's no way we'll ever understand the hardships they've endured.
They are the stars in the sky, so far beyond our reach, and we're nothing more than fans who look up to them.
But this is the path they chose and they'll keeping pushing forward through the storm
So many things are beyond our control,
but the one thing we can do is to stand by their side and to always keep the faith.

[NEWS] 100919 Why Japanese Girls Go Mad for Korean Girl Bands

Korean girl groups are attracting more fervent admirers among their own sex in Japan than from the young men they are ostensibly manufactured to appeal to. About 80 percent of the audience at the debut showcase of Girls' Generation at the Ariake Coliseum in Tokyo on Aug. 25 were female, from teenagers to women in their 30s. Plenty of them even sported Girls' Generation outfits.

Things are much the same with other Korean girl groups like 4 Minute, Kara and Brown Eyed Girls. Management agencies admit that even though the bands were meant to target male fans, more than half of the fans are young girls. In Korea, girl bands have traditionally been popular among men of all ages, from teens to those in their 50s.

◆ Differences in Image
AKB 48 and Morning Musume are the leading Japanese girl bands this year. Dressed in frilly princess dresses and much given to winsome smiles, they dance and sing to routines mainly choreographed with dainty movements of hands and feet. But Korean girl groups have a bolder, more dynamic image. They wear angular uniforms or tight skinny jeans, and dance to choreography that uses the whole body. On stage, they appear confident and charismatic.

Kim Young-min of agency SM Entertainment said, "Japanese girls who've had enough of Japanese girl bands that strictly appeal to men's protective instincts seem to take bolder Korean girl groups as a role model."

◆ Better Skills
Thanks to their notoriously grueling training, Korean girl groups tend to be better at dancing and singing than Japanese ones. Members of Korean girl bands go through an average of three to six years of training, while Japanese girls get just six months to a year.

Japanese management agencies recently shifted from quality to quantity, on the assumption that anyone can become an "idol" with the right marketing support. AKB 48, as the name suggests, has 48 members who perform a daily gig for fans in a small theatre in Tokyo's Akihabara. Often members are launched straight off the street and then learn on the job due to these schedules.

◆ Filling a Boy-Band Shaped Hole
Oricon, the Japanese equivalent to charts provider Billboard, recently said Japanese girls in their teens and 20s are taking to Korean girl bands during a lull for Korean boy bands.

Bands such as TVXQ, Big Bang and SHINee turned Japanese girls on to K-pop, with the number of Japanese TVXQ fans estimated at over 300,000. That prompted Japanese management agencies to concentrate on the boy band market, according to Shin Sung-hee of Sony Music Entertainment. "They had no interest in girl groups whatsoever, so the current Korean girl band phenomenon took people in both Korea and Japan by surprise," he said.

[NEWS] 100917 Three Members of TVXQ Face Setback in Japan

Three members of TVXQ, Micky Yoochun, Xiah Junsu and Hero Jaejoong, confront a fresh setback as its Japanese management agency Avex on Thursday decided to suspend all activities in Japan of the popular entertainers.

The surprising decision by Avex came just a week after the three members released an album in Japan last Wednesday, which stole the first slot on the Oricon Weekly Chart.

The latest development underscores the difficulties the stars face after the Seoul Central District Court ruled in favor of the three members against SM Entertainment, over an allegedly unfair clause in their contract. Since the legal dispute, the three members have kept their presence in the Japanese entertainment market, with Avex the local agency for the breakaway group, excluding two other members.

The relations between the three members and Avex, however, turned out to be not so amicable as the Japanese agency abruptly announced on Thursday it will stop promoting and organizing events for them, citing concerns about the head of C-JES, a Korean management agency.

“In order to obey the morals of working principles in our company, we have decided we cannot continue the promotions of the three members in Japan,” said an Avex spokesperson Thursday.

Avex also mentioned the criminal record of the Korean agency’s chief in its press release, when announcing its decision to halt management services. However, a PR representative in Seoul for Yoochun, Junsu and Jaejoong told The Korea Herald on Friday that Avex aims to block the group from performing for Japanese fans by suspending the service, rather than scrapping the contract.

Unless Avex terminates the contract, the three members cannot sign a new deal with other Japanese management agencies.

The three celebrities, who have a huge following in Korea, Japan and elsewhere in Asia, strongly refuted Avex’s statement on Friday, saying that C-JES has nothing to do with a criminal organization. They acknowledged the president of C-JES had indeed got a criminal record, but said the rumor about his involvement with an organized crime ring is totally groundless.

The members continued to argue that Avex already knew the agency chief’s past record when the two parties signed their contract. Given the circumstances, Avex cannot use this as a reason to suspend their activities, the members said.

The key point of contention between the three members and Avex concern the terms of the contract. Avex called for a change to the details in it, which the members declined, claiming the new conditions were unfair. The TVXQ members said Avex’s move is simply to punish their refusal to agree to new terms.

¡¡ Avex also stated in the press release that although it suspends service for the three members, it holds the legal rights to serve as a management firm in Japan for TVXQ group, with the full five members, citing the valid contract with SM Entertainment.

“We need cooperation and attention from our fans,” the three members said in a statement. “We hope we will meet our fans as soon as possible.”

Im Sang-hyuk, a lawyer working for the Korean idol group members, said in a statement that Avex shouldn’t have put them in such a tight position. “I will put efforts into solving this problem so that the three members can resume their activities in Japan,” he said.

The three members of TVXQ filed a lawsuit against SM Entertainment over the validity of their contract. They claimed that a 13-year contract was excessively long and that earnings were not distributed fairly among them.

[TRANS] 100917 Fans' Support to Junsu's Musical

This is the second fans support planned by PicnicXiah (Junsu's Korean fansite) for Junsu's musical, the day after Avex released the official statement to suspend JYJ's activities in Japan.

This time there were more people gathered for rehearsal.
We brought different types of simple food there during the rest time.
There are delicious rice balls which are suitable to eat whether in a warm sunny day or during the freezing cold weather and beautiful cupcakes . ^^
The beverage includes soft drinks, mate tea, lemon juice and so on.
When the staff opened the door to bring the food in, we heard Junsu's singing voice!
It sounded like a song in Elizabeth, it is really high pitched~~~ Such a coincidence that the part we heard was before the end of the song.
After the ending, all the actors bestowed him with thunderous applause.
TT TT TT TT Even the actors were all clapping their hands, not to mention us who brought the food there, we were applausing while standing TT TT TT TT

The staff and actors told Junsu, 'Please enjoy it~'
Junsu answered 'Okay~!!!', his mood seemed quite good, the atmopshere in the practise room was great too~
After they finished the food, the person who came out to greet us included the actors and director, as well as our main character Junsu!!! He suddenly showed up to greet us~

(Recently Junsu seems to exercise a lot, his muscles are attractive!!! TT.T)
We initially worried that Junsu might feel depressed due to the incident happened yesterday, but we were relieved when we saw his bright smile and the way he talked~
We only believe Junsu and we will support him with all our efforts. It is enough by doing so! ^.^
Musical Concert FIGHTING! XIAH JUNSU FIGHTING!

The following is Junsu's reply to the supportive postcard gave by PicnicXiah.
Junsu worried the fans will feel more fatigue than them so he wrote such message to us.
What we can do now, is to believe Junsu and continue to support him.

Message from PicnicXiah to Junsu
To: Genius Junsu who born like a star
Junsu ah, FIGHTING!
Everything will be alright. ^.^
The person with true ability is able to smile constantly, isn't it?
If we can't avoid it, then just enjoy it!

Junsu's reply
Seems to be too envious of us...
Even so, we will become stronger ^.^
Will always be thankful to you.
