Sina Entertainment News (S): Let’s have the all new DBSG greet everyone first. [T/N: It really does say 'all new' in Chinese.]
HoMin: Hello, we are DBSG.
S: How do you feel about coming back with your new album Wae?
Yunho (Y): We feel great.
Changmin (C): It’s been two years and three months, right?
Y: Everyone’s become even more supportive of us despite having waited for so long, so we’re very happy.
S: Please introduce the musical style and leading track of your new album Wae.
C: This is the album we’re meeting everyone with after a long time, titled Wae. For not just the album but also our performance as a whole, we’ve worked hard to find a convergence line that allows us to keep our respective individualities yet blend well with each other.
Y: In addition, the album has songs of various genres. The most important leading track ‘Wae’ has a powerful beat and a fast melody, which are highly addictive. We hope everyone will show his support and interest.
S: Let’s talk about the choreography of ‘Wae’.
Y: The choreography this time for ‘Wae’ is more powerful than past ones. The energetic dance moves are the highlight, especially this part with ‘Keep your head down’. It involves bowing the head, just like what Changmin’s doing.
S: Are there highlights from the filming of the MV that you find memorable?
C: The one I found most memorable was actually not mine. We each had solo scenes, and my character concept was the manipulator of light, right?
Y: I was a manipulator of fire.
C: Honestly, he almost got burnt to death by the flames.
Y: Yeah, everyone might think those flames were CG effects, but they weren’t—they were real.
C: Really almost got burnt to death.
Y: It was very hot, but I completed the filming while holding my breath because I’d heard that you were likely to asphyxiate after constant inhalation of smoke.
C: I suddenly find it very scary.
Y: You do?
C: Not too much, I guess.
Y: Anyway, I almost got burnt to death.
C: That’s because it was our highlight.
S: How do the both of you usually manage and maintain your figures?
C: If it’s to manage your figure, first of all, from a health perspective, would be to eat well, sleep well, and laugh often.
Y: We also go to the gym for some exercise whenever we have the time to.
C: Many people have said we have better figures and look even manlier now. We’re really thankful to everyone.
Y: That’s right.
S: The both of you have been in television drama filmings recently. Were there any memorable moments during filming?
Y: Why don’t you talk about that famous production Paradise Ranch?
C: Speaking of memorable moments, should I talk about incidents or accidents? You could say one of them was a disaster. It happened while it was snowing on Jeju Island. It was snowing very heavily while we were driving past Hallasan, such that if ten cars were on the road, then nine would meet an accident. Although we had some trouble, the image of a snow-blanketed Hallasan was just too beautiful, so the cars next to it got into accidents.
Y: So the scenery was especially beautiful. Plus since it’s Jeju Island, I’m particularly envious.
C: A place where rock and wind are especially plentiful.
Y: There really are lots of rocks and wind. When I was on the set of Heading to the Ground, it was especially hot. I had to play football, and there were many action scenes. Since I was being filmed as I played, I often got hurt. The lighting got smashed while the football scenes were being filmed too, because I was too ambitious and kicked the ball too high. Recently, I’ve been taking part in the filming of Poseidon. Filming began only after the weather turned cold, and there’re scenes which require dives into the winter sea. Because it’s been too cold, there’ve been several instances where filming was cancelled.
S: Last year-end was DBSG’s seventh debut anniversary. Do you have any special feelings regarding this occasion?
C: We and our fans have been through a lot, but everyone has been as supportive as ever, for which we’ve always been thankful.
Y: Yeah, the number seven. The seventh anniversary is full of meanings.
C: What are these meanings?
Y: If I had to list them one by one, it’d be one of the reasons we’re still singing. After our seventh anniversary, we’ll work even harder and bring even more exciting performances. More than just the seventh anniversary, we hope to become a beautiful memory for the members and fans from now on.
S: Do the all new DBSG have plans to hold activities in China in the near future?
C: Our last visit to China to meet everyone seems like it happened so long ago.
Y: That’s right, it seems like SMTOWN was the last time.
C: Excluding visits with the rest of the company, it looks like our last DBSG-only visit took place a really long time ago.
Y: Yes, it’s really been a while.
C: Even though it was fun to visit with the rest of the company, we still hope to go on our own. We really want to meet everyone, though. We don’t have anything fixed as of now. As long as there’s a great opportunity to do so, we hope to meet everyone frequently.
Y: That’s right.
S: Everyone’s hoping you’ll come back to China soon. Please say a few words to the Chinese fans.
Y: Having come back with a new album only after two years and three months, we heard that everyone rushed to lend their support from afar, giving us a lot of strength. It’s made us feel that we have to keep working harder. We’ll bring you more exciting music and performances from now on, and we hope you can continue to keep your love and concern for us.
HoMin: This has been DBSG. Thank you.
