[TRANS] 101026 Yoochun Is A Good Example Of Idol Turned Actor

Posted Image

Yoochun is starring in the KBS2 drama “SungKyunKwan Scandal.” People related to the drama gave their verdict, saying “This is definitely a good example of an idol turned actor”

Acting as the main character Lee Seon Joon, Yoochun is now doing activities both as a singer and an actor, and is working on a hard schedule. However, despite his idol background advantage, the way he has thrown himself into the production has raised voices of approval from the staff.

A person from the “SungKyunKwan Scandal’s” production team said , “For about three months before the shoot, Yoochun underwent intensive acting lessons, and crammed in the basics, and also had great enthusiasm in learning from the actual filming location. Even as we enter the final stages of the shoot, he is giving his all for each and every cut.”

The drama’s chief producer Gwak Ki Won said, “Yoochun took this on with a hardworking, honest attitude, and this led to him receiving a good assessment. His ability to focus is so great, to the extent that I think it would be good if he could be a full-fledged actor,” evaluating Yoochun. Also, production company Raemong Raein representative Kim Dong Rae too, said “He has shown us acting skills beyond our expectations, and there is a high chance that he will become an even better actor from now on.” Following other idols turned actors that enjoy high popularity such as Eric (Mun) and Yoon Gae Sang, we look forward to seeing more of Yoochun in the future.

The news mentioned it as ‘CS’. At first I thought ‘CS’ stands for Cassiopeia? So I wrote it down so.
But then some people said it’s probably stands for CJeS… not sure. So I edited and wrote as it is.

Re-read, and okay I found ‘CS의 백’ (CS’ Baek). So CJeS it is. Sorry for the mistake

[TRANS] 100913 U-Know Yunho Debuts Successfully as a Musical Actor

Yunho made his debut as a musical actor through his role in 'Goong' on September 8th at Theater Yong. This marks the beginning of a new phenomenon.

The first scene of the musical established a serious atmosphere and this was followed by a dance in the scene which followed, leaving the whole of the audience intrigued, unable to tear their eyes away. Throughout the performance, the use of LEDs provided a feeling of elegance, allowing the crowd to gain a better understanding of the plot. Enthusiastic responses were received from not only Korean fans but also overseas audiences.

On the day, the director said that Yunho's sincere acting and graceful dancing was the reason of their success: 'Over the past four months, Yunho has completely let go of his image as an idol. As an actor in 'Goong', he has worked ceaselessly to perfect his portrayal of Lee Shin. Despite being a newcomer and performing for the very first time, the choreographers expressed that Yunho did not seem like an amateur at all, on the contrary, his charismatic presence allowed him to really make the stage his own. I hope that he'll have gained some valuable experience and growth through 'Goong'.'

With idols such as U-Know Yunho as part of its cast, the musical 'Goong' has generated a great degree of interest from the media.

[NEWS] Micky’s Challenge: From Idol to Actor

Transforming from an idol to an actor can be tricky.

Not only does it require superb acting skills to wash away that idol image, but he or she must go through worries, criticism and also harsh self-discipline. Amid the numerous crossovers of young and determined stars, a particularly famous one is aiming to captivate viewers with his never-before-seen acting.

Dressed in “hanbok,’’ or traditional Korean clothes, TVXQ member Micky (real name Park Yoo-chun) looked proud, yet a bit nervous to represent his first–ever drama “Sungkyunkwan Scandal’’ at a press conference held at the W Hotel, northern Seoul, last week.

The doll-faced 24-year-old will appear as Lee Sun-jun in the period drama and work with fellow actors Park Min-young, Song Joong-ki and Yoo Ah-in.

The soap is a “campus romance drama,’’ according to the production company, and will bring Korean history, comedy and romance to the small screen.

Korean period dramas have not only been popular here, but also overseas, and they tend to have certain patterns: traditional dress, ancient Korean vernacular, love triangles, and the inner struggle between personal goals and traditional traits.

“Sungkyunkwan Scandal’’ is no different. The heroine Kim Yoon-hee, played by Park Min-young, has been responsible for her household after her father died and brother became ill in the busy times of the Joseon Kingdom (1392-1910). She decides that the only way for her to not worry about food and money is to disguise herself as a man and try for the state examination and become a court official.

She enters Sungkyunkwan, or a Confucian Academy, to study and meets fellow classmates: the strict and handsome Sun-jun, the playboy Koo Yong-ha (played by Song) and the rough and wild Moon Jae-shin (played by Yoo).

The journey begins as Kim, a pretty-faced student in disguise, struggles to fulfill her dream to become an official and hopefully discover true love along the way.

The biggest concern is not the familiar storyline or good looking stars dressed in colorful hanbok, but the acting. The four main actors are relatively young ― all are 24 except for the 25-year-old Song ― and have not made lasting impressions in their acting careers as yet. Additionally, period dramas are known to be especially tricky due to the old-fashioned dialect and behavior.

Despite these worries, the drama’s producer Kim Won-suk expressed his confidence in working with the young actors, especially Park Yoo-chun.

“Park was already on the team when I decided to helm the drama. But if I had the chance to pick the actors again, I would have picked him. I know many people are looking forward to, and are also worried about his acting, but I can tell you all that he is doing great,’’ Kim said.

Park also had to deal with the interest and pressure put on him, though he did a pretty good job in keeping a straight face and calmly answering questions regarding his lack of acting experience.

“Of course, being my first work and all, I thought about my acting a lot. I think this was a chance where I discovered a new me. The staff were generous enough to pick me for the role,’’ he said smiling.

“I have been dancing for a long time, and I had a pretty tough time realizing that the martial arts sequences were not to be shown as choreography. I have been immersed in the drama and although it’s been tough with the weather and the bugs, it’s been fun,’’ Park added.

It was hard not to notice the enormous interest showering the star. Even the press conference was a bit overdone. The event seemed to have lost its true purpose and turned into a promotional circus. It included two fashion shows; one by 2009, 2010 Miss Korea contestants and models and another by the actors themselves. The hanbok display was, indeed colorful and beautiful, but there was nothing different from those seen in previous and even current historical series.

A preview screening is one of the most important channels that uncovers the gist of the drama and also help the press understand the storyline easier and faster. The 8-minute highlight video was not enough to bring out the overall vibe of the work. It took an hour and a half to finally bring out the actors and producer to the table for a Q and A session.

Micky was introduced as “Park Yoo-chun’’ from start to finish, probably because he really wants to turn over a new leaf. The TVXQ member may have found it interesting to discover the actor within, but it will take a bit more than generosity and soul searching to spearhead a full-length drama, especially when all eyes are on him. Will he be able to shine in the spotlight? Fans will find out on Aug. 30 at 9:55 p.m.

Align Center

Embraced by a large number of passionate fans in both Korea and Japan, that is the highly popular group that paused all group activities in April, Tohoshinki. Recently, a new unit consisting of Junsu, Jejung and Yuchun performed at Tokyo Dome and Osaka’s Kyocera Dome, with a total of 4 performancing attracting 200,000 people, showing their immense popularity. Moreover, local television, handphone sites, and DVDs are featuring the members as actors, and this is attracting a lot of attention.

Jejung is currently starring in the Fuji Television Drama “Sunao Ni Narenakute”, which was written by Eriko Kitagawa. Coming to Japan from Korea with his sister, and being a struggling salesman, he passionately plays the role of “Doctor” who desires to be with Ueno Juri’s “Haru.” He is gentle, and a little unreliable, “Doctor’s” seemingly fruitless struggle is keeping fans at the edge of their seats. Prior to this drama, Jejung was also involved in the Japan-Korea collaboration project “Telecinema 7”, which featured a Japanese scriptwriters’ stories and Directors as well as actors from Korea. His movie, “Heaven’s Postman” (Screened in May) was also written by Eriko Kitagawa, and this was his first starring role in a movie. We look forward to his active performance in both movies and dramas in the future!

For Yuchun, he took on his first key role in the currently-airing BeeTv drama “Beautiful Love ~Kimi ga Ireba~” The story is about Yuchun’s character Yonsu, who is the heir of a Korean Conglomerate, and Aya Oomasa’s Hinata, who is a journalist who dreams of being a writer. Prior to the drama release, the screening of “Making of~Beautiful Love~” was the clip with the highest views for 4 days running, which was a new record, showing its immense popularity. This overwhelming performance was different from his previous charm exhibited as a singer, and Yuchun’s natural acting has been a hot topic. Incidentally, the drama’s theme song “Kimi Ga Ireba ~Beautiful You~” and interlude “Intoxication” was performed by his close friend Junsu. These 2 songs are recorded under the name XIAH junsu, in his solo debut single “XIAH”, which sold over 200,000 copies.
