I can say this…… now that the promotional events are already over…… This is the background sad love story of “Miss You”……

Trax, Super Junior, SHINee fans should all be familiar with this song “Miss You”, even if you didn’t hear the song before you should be able to recognize the name……

Actually, the song originally belong to SHINee
This is before the group have confirmed on the name SHINee, Onew and Jonghyun already recorded this song in a duet form, and planned on using this song in their debut album…… At that time the rap section used Minho’s smooth rap….. Attractive rap……@______@
But it didn’t fit the overall image of the album, so they planned on having it released in a single format

However the grouping suddenly changed, the confirmed it would be TVXQ’s Xiah Junsu, Super Junior’s Kyuhyun, and SHINee’s Jonghyun to perform this as a trio……
They finished recording this song~ And um…… the trio’s voice blended well~ very attractive~

BUT!! 2 month before the album was to be release, Junsu declared to leave the group……

So after a very long time, this group changed to include new members Jay and Jino to perform…… this became “Miss You”

Finally released after a long long journey. 3 years……

[NEWS] 100912 Xiah to Perform with Levay in Musical Concert

Kim Jun-su, better known as Xiah, a member of K-pop group TVXQ, will perform with Grammy Award-winning composer Sylvester Levay in the musical concert “Mozart!” at the Olympic Gymnastics Stadium from Oct. 7 to 10.

The Korean rendition of the Austrian musical that garnered huge popularity for its starry casting and high-quality musical score early this year will bring actors and actresses together again in “Levay with Friends.”

Renowned for composing film scores in Hollywood from 1980 to 2000, Levay wrote his most popular works for the mid-1980s U.S. TV action series “Airwolf” (1984-1986). Since the 1990s, Levay has dedicated himself to musicals.

Kim and other actors will team up with the Hungarian composer who will lead a 38-member orchestra to perform the memorable musical. The concert will include songs from “Elizabeth,” also composed by Levay to be performed by Kim, Park Eun-tae and Jeon Dong-seok. “Elizabeth,” a representative Austrian musical collaboration by Levay and his writing partner Michael Kunze, will be presented in Korea in 2012.

Also, Kim will introduce a new song composed by Levay, who was deeply impressed by Kim’s performances both in the musical and as a member of TVXQ.

When Kim first took the role, there was a lot of cynicism and doubt about his debut as a musical actor but he rebuffed such criticism with his powerful vocals and excellent performances.

The EMK Musical Company said that in the concert, Kim is expected to show his talent as a musical actor that goes beyond his popularity as a K-pop idol star. Kim recently took part in singing the title song for the drama “Sungkyunkwan Scandal,” along with Micky and Hero.

Veteran actor Seo Beom-seok who played Mozart’s father in the musical said that it will be a good opportunity for him and his fans alike to enjoy the program once again. “All actors who took part in the premiere earlier this year have missed Levay’s music. So we are very excited to hold a concert with him on this special occasion,” he said.

Yu Hee-sung, co-director of the musical, said that Kim and world-renowned musician Levay will produce a concert different from other gala events. “All the staff and the actors are making a concerted effort to recreate a touching performance for some 40,000 people,” he said.

The local musical production company said that it will put “Mozart!”on stage as an encore performance next year and “Elizabeth” in 2012.

The response to the ‘Kim Junsu Musical Concert-Levay with Friends’ is heated.

It showed reservation statistics never before seen in the musical industry and ranked top of the weekly charts for musicals as soon as tickets were released on Interpark and Yes24.

The fourth round of tickets were released on the 6th, and all VIP seats were sold out in one minute, and proved once more the popularity of the upcoming concert.

Kim Junsu, the hero of musical ‘Mozart!’, will come together with world renowned composer Levay and Korea’s top musical actors for this concert and will showcase highlights of ‘Mozart!’ and a new song Levay composed for Kim Junsu.

After the ticket war, EMK Musical Company stated, “It has been confirmed that Micahel Kunze, famous for his lyrics for ‘Fly Robin Fly’ and ‘Get up and Boogie’, will be writing the lyrics for Kim Junsu’s new song, which means that the original lyrics of the song will be in English.”

The Levay-Kunze combination, that brings together the representative composer and lyricist of German musicals, has come together to prepare a new song for a star of Asia. As this is such a unique project, the concert has become a hot issue in Europe and many are focusing their attention on the musical concert.

The production company is working hard to bring together a world renowned composer, Korea’s best musical actors, and the much-awaited ‘Elisabeth’ performance to create an extraordinary stage that will exceed the expectations of fans.

[NEWS] 100701 Idols Take Over Musicals, for Better or Worse

‘If we can create pieces that are moving as well as original, we may be able to remove the idols from the stage.’

The first Korean production of the musical “Miss Saigon” was a hit when it premiered in 2006 with more than 85 percent of seats sold. Confident that the show could repeat its successful run, another Korean production of the musical was staged here earlier this year. This time, however, ticket sales were at only 55 percent.

“The Phantom of the Opera” was one of the best-selling musicals here until May, but sales are less than stellar these days.

Korean productions of hit musicals have drawn audiences and re-shaped the landscape of the theater scene in recent years. But the industry that has proven so lucrative for the industry as a whole is experiencing a shift toward a new phenomena that critics say could change things - for better or for worse. While theater critics say recent productions are higher in quality than in the past, sluggish ticket sales in recent months have led the industry to refer to its current situation as musical theater’s “ice age.”

In the midst of the public’s indifference, the only performances that have been able to attract audiences are the ones that have members of Korea’s idol groups as part of their casts.

The musical “Mozart,” which stars Xiah Jun-su, a member of the group TVXQ, recorded average ticket sales of 99 percent when he was in the role. That figure dropped to just 74 percent when another actor was in the leading role. Similarly, the Korean production of “Legally Blonde” had its own idol star in Girls’ Generation member Jessica. Ticket sales surged to 90 percent when Jessica, who rotated the role with two other actresses, was on the boards, but plummeted to just 70 percent when she was not.

The most recent example of this phenomenon is the production of “Midnight Sun,” which also featured a member of Girls’ Generation, Taeyeon. Sales soared to a whopping 98 percent when she was on stage but fell to 78 percent when someone else was in the role.

“The Korean public tends to be stingy when it comes to paying their own money for cultural events,” pop culture critic Sung Gi-wan said. “The only ones who are willing to do that are fans who want to watch their favorite stars.”

The current trend is not the result of bad acting or a dearth of good musicals, critics say. Instead, it appears to be the simple fact that casting popular singers attracts fans and publicity. “A Chorus Line,” which opened last weekend, has Jung-ah, a member of girl group After School, and Soo-hyun, a member of U-Kiss, in the cast. The producers revealed that they did not want to cast celebrities because of their busy schedules but investors refused to support the production if the stars were not part of it.

“The public is sick of the surge of large-scale musicals from overseas that have arrived since 2001,” theater critic Cho Yong-sin said. “Musicals in the U.S. were also reliant on Hollywood stars until well-crafted musicals were made. If we can create pieces that are moving as well as original, we may be able to remove the idols from the stage.”

TVXQ's Xiah Junsu was chosen as the top rated idol star in musical by the critics.

In KBS's Joy entertainment programme 'Entertainment Magazine' which was broadcasted on the 9th afternoon, the critic who appeared on show indicated Xiah Junsu is the best idol star in musical.

According to the production team, the critics unanimously recognised Xiah Junsu's potential as musical actor through his performance in 'Mozart'.

The production team expressed that, 'Apart from music critics, actors and audiences have raised their attention to idol participation in musical due to Xiah Junsu.'

In addition, Xiah Junsu won the Best Male Newcomer in 4th Musical Awards.

[AKP] 100705 Xiah Junsu taken to the ER in Los Angeles

On July 3rd at 10PM, Xiah Junsu was taken to a hospital in Los Angeles because of a high fever and exhaustion.

Earlier that day, Xiah Junsu complained of a high fever and exhaustion. His was taken to the emergency room as the symptoms got worse. A representative said,

“Xiah Junsu has been admitted to a hospital in Koreatown, Los Angeles at 10pm on July 3rd. Being that it was a weekend, after inquiring over 20 hospitals within Koreatown we were able to connect to one hospital and he was able to be treated.“

Junsu has been fatigued from recording for their new album, which led to his high fever and exhaustion. At first the symptoms were like a mild cold, but as day progressed the symptoms worsened and so we seeked out an emergency room. When we had arrived at the hospital, his fever exceeded 40 degrees Celsius (~104 degrees Fahrenheit). After receiving shots and emergency treatment, he was stabilized. A representative said,

“Xiah Junsu, along with the other 2 TVXQ members, have been pouring out their passion into the recording of their album in America. With the thought of being able to meet their fans once again, he has been singing non-stop which has ultimately put too much stress on his body.“

It had been reported that TVXQ’s JaeChunSu were shocked by the news of Park Yong Ha’s suicide. Their representative stated,

“Jaejoong, who was a close friend of Park Yong Ha, was so shocked by the news that for several days he remained melancholy in silence. Peers of the three members have encouraged the fatigued members to rest a bit, but they have been so absorbed in the recording of their album that they have pushed themselves to the point of needing to be taken to the emergency room.”

In response to Xiah Junsu’s treatment, JaeChunSu have been given a 2-day break.

JaeChunSu is currently in America to work with Kanye West in Los Angeles for their new album.
