Yunho, who is 183cm, said this of Changmin who is 185cm tall, “To be honest, Changmin is too tall and he’s also too good looking, so I feel very burdened. So I wear cushion insoles whenever I stand next to him,” drawing laughter from the audience with his confession.

[PHOTO] iWeekly Issue – The Beginning Rating

Of this week

Rough translation:

The launch of the “Worldwide Album” marked the new beginning for 3 of the members of TVXQ!. With 8 fully-English songs in the album and boasting collaborations with Rodney Jerkins & Kanye West, most of the recording were conducted in the studios in the United States. It follows the trend of R&B and electronic dance music closely. The breakthrough for this album lies in that its creation has annihilated the boundaries of Asian music, proven through the adoption of the American style of music. The Korean accent in their English pronunciation is somewhat unnatural; there is still room for improvement.

After the first broadcast of ‘SungKyunKwan’, the drama has been in rapid development from grabbing the audiences’ attention that results in steadily increase of rating. Especially in recent broadcast, the natural interaction between Park Yoochun and Park Min Young gave an extra fun to the story. How Park Yoochun behaved as Lee Seon Jun is one of the conspicuous aspect of the drama as well. [INFO] Ratings creep upward for Sungkyunkwan Scandal

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Well, with extensions confirmed for both Giant and Dong Yi, I think the best Sungkyunkwan Scandal can hope for is a strong third place showing in the Monday-Tuesday ratings race. And while the gains made this week are fairly small, at least they are encouraging: Week 2 brought in a 7.3% and 7.5%, up from last week’s twin 6.3% ratings.

By comparison, Dong Yi drew a 25.3% for its Tuesday episode, with Giant closing in on the gap with a 24.2%. Both dramas will be ending with 60 episodes, after being granted a 10-episode extension each.

But more than the uptick in the numbers, I’m finding Sungkyunkwan‘s story to be as refreshing and entertaining as I thought it last week. The series weaves bigger social, cultural, and political issues into what could be a frivolous trendy-drama story, adding some interesting depth to the plot. It doesn’t hurt that Yoo Ah-in takes a bigger role this week — he’d been the least featured last week but the most charismatic (in my opinion) of the four; the first two episodes focused more on series leads Park Min-young and Park Yoo-chun (aka Micky Yoochun), as well as the exceedingly engaging Song Joong-ki.

[INFO] First Week SungKyunKwan and Scandal Rating Recap

Ep 2 re-run TNS media ratings:

Nationwide: 7.9% (19th)
Seoul: 8.2% (19th)

There was a high hype about netizens asking for the SungKyunKwan and Scandal re-run schedule even before the first episode started.

So it’s likely that most audiences want to keep up with the previous drama they’ve been stuck in such as Dong Yi and Giant, moreover when both are now entering climax–yet they’ll watch the SKKS during the re-run instead.

[TRANS] 100603 Micky Yoochun Challenges Concept – Flower Boys = High Drama Ratings?

Airing in September, Micky Yoochun’s Korean historical drama “Sungkyunkwan Scandal” will join in on the “if you want to have high drama ratings, find an idol group” concept.

Recently, high television ratings have all had the same point. Many flower boys have entered into the scene, burning young females’ hearts with their handsome looks and warm, caring personalities. The start of this current trend no doubt began with F4 from “Boys Over Flowers”. The actors of F4 – Lee Minho, Kim Bum, SS501′s Kim Hyun Joong, and T-Max’s Kim Joon – were all beginners in terms of acting, but received many invites to film for advertisements after the drama became a big hit.

After that came “You’re Beautiful”, earning an immense amount of favor from the creation of the group A.N.JELL inside the drama. The groups’ members, including FT-Island’s Lee Hongki and C.N.Blue’s Jung Yonghwa, both gained a lot of attention. Especially since rookie Jung Yonghwa participated in the SBS Music Awards and other shows like We Got Married, he has become a dynamic new star.

Now, everyone’s attention is focused on Asia’s mega popular group, DBSK’s member Micky Yoochun, who will play the character of Lee Sun Joon in “Sungkyunkwan Scandal” that is about to be released in September. Will Micky Yoochun’s performance once again guarantee the concept “idol star=high ratings”?

Fans are eagerly awaiting whether or not this drama will once again start up the flower boy current – and there is a great chance that it will.
