–How does it feel to participate in the video “Haru”, to promote Korea’s tourism?

I portray an action star who loses my girlfriend’s ring after the action scenes, so I continuously search for an identical ring. In the end, it’s a happy ending where I find the ring and manage to meet my girlfriend. While filming on Gwang An Bridge in Busan, I had to run to and fro many times and even had to avoid the bombs from the plane. There were many demanding action scenes. I thought that since I’m doing it, I might as well do the best I can.

–From Yunho’s point of view, is this a very cool job?

Although it’s embarrassing to say so myself, I think it’s really cool.

Following this, we slowly discovered Yunho’s daily habits.

–Firstly, what’s your favourite food in Korean cuisine?

Samgyetang.(t/n: Ginseng chicken soup) It’s really good for the body.

–How do you spend your holidays?

My days are usually really busy since I keep thinking that I’ll be able to spend my holidays leisurely. If possible, I’d like to go on a trip. I’m really interested in photography, so I like to take pictures. I’d like to tour a few interesting places, leisurely take some photos and after that, organize all my feelings at those moments into a diary; that seems nice.

–If you date a Japanese girl, what would be your itinerary?

If it’s in Seoul, then it has to be the Seoul Tower. From the viewing gallery, you can see all the sights of Seoul, so the Seoul that you see from there, is really beautiful. Also, there’s a lot of good food in the vicinity.

Also, do you know the special lovers’ place in Seoul Tower? The couple writes their wishes on a lock and hang it on a fence at Seoul Tower, and pray for it to come true…

–Then, have you ever been on that kind of date?

Yes~ I’ve been there with my friends and family! (laugh)

–Where you’ve gone to have fun recently?

If it’s recently… I went to a place called Jeju-do. The ebb and flow of the waves there follow the appearance and disappearance of the paths, so that’s pretty interesting.

–The place Yunho often appears at in Seoul?

Because I really like movies, if I have time, I go to the cinema often. Ah! If the Japanese fans go to the cinemas in Seoul, they might meet me.

–The cinema you frequent?

I won’t tell you the exact location~

–It seems like there will be an increase of fans around cinemas in Seoul. Then, please give a hint for your favourite restaurant.

I frequent this barbeque place at Apgujeong-dong because there’s seating at the roof so you can people watch and eat at the same time. The insides of the shop is plastered with my posters, so it’s easy to find. (laugh)

–Where do you shop?

There are more malls at Apgujeong-dong so I shop there more frequently. Also, Seoul has Dongdaemun, where you can shop for 24 hours, so if you go there, there are many interesting shops.

–Have you ever shopped in Dongdaemun?

I go there really rarely. If I have time and I can, I would go.

–Lastly, please tell us something that’s trendy.

[NEWS] 101013 KFPCAI Sends Out Official Letters of Request to Broadcasting Stations to Prevent JYJ's TV Promotions

After the news of SM Entertainment filing a provisional ban on JYJ’s first new album, ‘The Beginning‘, as well as filing an exclusive contract suspension injunction between JYJ and their contracted company, CJ Entertainment, it was also recently confirmed that on October 11th, official letters of request were sent to three public broadcasting stations, one cable broadcasting station, and other various online album distribution sites to refrain JYJ from making appearances on shows and halt album sales.

On October 12th, a fan of JYJ wrote on an internet open board, “I work at a cable broadcasting station, and I heard that the ‘Korean Federation of Pop Culture and Art Industry (KFPCAI)‘ sent out official letters to both the public and cable broadcasting stations.” According to this fan, the official letter of request contained information stating that as JYJ may harm the effect of Korea’s Hallyu Wave, they state they will not be responsible for any disadvantages caused by their appearances on their shows.

This information was later directly confirmed by an associate of the KFPCAI, and has since been spreading at lightning speed on Twitter and various internet communities, currently causing a great deal of concern amongst JYJ’s fans.

A representative from the ‘Korean Entertainment Producers Association’, which is one of eight major associations in the KFPCAI, explained, “We are not siding with SM Entertainment, but we are aware of JYJ currently holding onto a dual contract. This situation has risen because their exclusive contract problem with SM Entertainment has not yet fully been resolved by the law.”

The representative continued, “Whether it was the company that mistreated the group, or the group created the problem, we do not know. That is a separate issue in itself. However if we let this ‘dual contract’ issue pass, what agency would even want to raise their artists?” He stated they are not sure when exactly the group decided to separate from the company and walk their own path, however they are merely just speaking opinions on behalf of the industry.

He added, “DBSK had a huge effect on the Hallyu Wave and on other idol groups walking their own paths, but for the group to separate is the same as throwing cold water on the numerous agencies preparing hard to advance overseas.” The representative also explained that the group’s separation has the potential to damage the reputation of the idol groups who have already successfully advanced into the Japan market.

In addition, through JYJ’s album distributors, Warner Bros, KFPCAI will also be sending out requests to postpone album sales on music sites such as Melon and Dosirak.

Prain, who are JYJ’s PR agency, revealed on October 13th, “They have been so busy all of yesterday and today with their showcase that they have not been able to look into the official letters that were sent out. However they don’t believe it is something to worry too much about.” With regards to SM’s provisional ban request against their new album, Prain said, “We are still currently trying to understand the exact information details on that matter. We will be exchanging discussions with the group’s management company, CJ Entertainment, later this evening.”

[TRANS] 101013 UKnow YunHo Promotes Tourism Spots: Gwangju, Hangang, Jebu-do

What role did you take up?

My role in the drama is Lee DaHae's lover and I’m appearing as an action star-YunHo. At the initial stage of the drama, it’s a setting of a strained relationship. Also, I lost the ring that Lee DaHae gave during one of the action scenes, so I went around to find the similar ring, and in the end we (Lee DaHae and I) meet again.

What do you think of the filming?

There are really a lot of action scenes, feels that there seem to be many intense action scenes. One of them is the scene where I keep running back and forth on the famous Busan Gwangan Bridge, where I had to avoid a missile. There were a few dangerous scenes too, and (I) was slightly injured, but seeing the film for the first time today, and it came out better than expected so I am very happy.

Are you able to immerse into the role immediately?

I have the same feeling as an action actor. The reason is because the YunHo in the drama is an actor, a role who goes through a secret relationship with his lover, who has some similarities with me now. Aren't action actors and I both artistes? Therefore, I put in more of my characteristics and worked hard for the filming.

The musical 'Goong' is in full swing, are you ready?

Almost at the last stage of practices, I am really happy. Because a musical includes acting, singing and dancing, I think it had really played a big part in my growth. The drama series 'Goong' itself is very interesting, having to act as the Crown Prince, I wish to let more people see me in a less-straightforward manner.

At the end of these busy days, if there were a full rest day, what would you want to do?

It would be great to have some spare time and take a rest after finishing a busy peak period. I like to take pictures while travelling, hoping to travel to many famous places to take pictures and to pen down my feelings into a journal.

JYJ (Jaejoong, Yoochun, Junsu) who just released OST recording song for KBS Drama ‘SungKyunKwan Scandal’ entitled ‘Chajada’, blew hot issue as the song notched top candidate spot on the 1st October broadcast of KBS 2TV ‘Music Bank’.

For a drama OST to climb up top candidate spot in music program is already a very unusual one, especially when this song is not even promoted due to the current situation surrounding JYJ, therefore this can be said as an extraordinary accomplishment.

[NEWS] Dong Bang Shin Ki’s temporal Japanese promotion suspension a worry for the ‘new Kpop hallyu’ in Japan

There has been great concern in Korea after news went out that Dong Bang Shin Ki trio Micky YooChun, Hero JaeJoong and Xiah JunSu had left their Japanese agency.

The news came directly from the trio’s Japanese agency AVEX Trax on 16th September, announcing the temporal suspension of the trio’s Japanese activities. With that on 17th September, the trio’s representative responded on 17th September that the report is an one-sided report from AVEX Trax and have posed the trio with adverse conditions.

Even though this is for the trio’s Japanese activities, there has been great interests coming from Korea’s side as well. This is because currently, we are looking at the ‘new hallyu’ by singers who are promoting in Japanese currently like Big Bang, Supernova, KARA, So Nyeo Shi Dae etc.

In fact, the chance success to be achieved by the girlgroups in the Japanese music scene is said to be high. At the same time, many of these singers’ local agencies are contacting Japanese agencies to work together for these group’s Japanese promotions. And with this news, there have been many eyebrows raised from officials in the Korean music industry.

This comes as somewhat a cold air amidst the Kpop fever going on in the Japanese music scene. Dong Bang Shin Ki has been acknowledged as the representative Korean singer in the Japanese music scene. And many of the Japanese fans of KARA and So Nyeo Shi Dae are also fans of Dong Bang Shin Ki. This would have some impact on the Korean management companies to work with more caution with their groups promoting in Japan.

An official from the music scene commented, “Dong Bang Shin Ki is the pillar and the co-existence to Kpop in Japan. Even though they have not been very active since last year, we cannot underestimate the power that comes with the name in Japan. It is not exaggerating to say that the Kpop ‘new hallyu’ are made by Dong Bang Shin Ki. There are worries that with the 3 leaving the Japanese music scene, it will be like cold wind amidst the hot fever of Kpop in Japan.”

[NEWS] 100628 U-Know Yunho Promotes "No Limit" DVD in Japan

Korean singer and actor U-Know Yunho of TVXQ [Asia Economic Daily]

Korean singer and actor U-Know Yunho of boy band TVXQ promoted his TV series "No Limit" in Japan over the weekend, visiting the country for the first time since TVXQ halted its musical activities there last April.

The singer attended a fan event to celebrate the DVD launch of MBC TV series "No Limit," held at Tokyo International Forum on June 26.

According to local media reports, U-Know Yunho appeared healthy and happy to see some 10,000 fans who showed up at the event.

"Long time no see, I am glad to see you and thank you for coming," the singer was quoted as saying.

In a letter to fans, the singer also shared his feelings about making an acting debut in "Limit" earlier this year.

"It was my first acting challenge so I was not completely satisfied," explained U-Know Yunho. "But I want to keep try working hard, based on what I learned from doing this drama."

The event also featured Korean actress A Ra, his co-star in "Limit" who played a sports agent to U-Know Yun-ho's soccer player character.

The singer thanked his fans by saying, "I will work hard to show you great performances.. I believe we will meet again."

U-Know Yunho was recently cast as the male lead in the musical "Goong," based on the popular comics and hit TV series of the same name. The musical will premiere in Korea in September.
