[TRANS] 101119 Fuji TV’s Announcer’s Blog on JYJ Showcase in NY

About JYJ

Although I’ve already known them from before, the experience of my private interview with JYJ is very amazing.

When I have to explain to people who live in the US, “Tohoshinki” is a Korean group who has created a social phenomenon in Japan since several years ago.
Ah, by the way, you pronounce it as “Tohoshinki”.
Their releases would, as you would expect, grab the number 1 spot on Oricon chart.
When they have a tour, the 50,000 seats in Dome would be sold out in no time.
They sang the theme song for Fuji TV’s popular anime “One Piece”, appeared and performed live on “Tokudane!”, the variety show that I was in charge of. (T/N: Tokudane! is a TV program that they appeared on in Japanese)

However.

We were unaware of what happened to them who have been working so hard. Fans were caught in a hard situation because they’ve been involved in a regrettable circumstance that lead to a halt on their activities at the moment.
I’m just saying this again, but none of them was at fault. Rather, I’d say that they are thriving their best.
At that time, I was in charge of the Entertainment corner at Tokudane!, and the staff and I were trying to bring them in.
However, because of some reasons which I can’t reveal in details, it is impossible to have them continue with their activities in Japan right now.

Then, the 3 members of Tohoshinki – Junsu, Jejung, Yuchun – took the first initial of their name to form “JYJ”.
On the occassion that JYJ debut in the US, I had a chance to have a 30-minute private interview with JYJ for FCI Morning EYE (T/N: a news program).

It has been a very long time since we met at Tokudane! studio, but their fresh personalities still haven’t changed at all.
As we started off a little with some tea, I was surrounded with their unchangeable aura.

However, there was a trouble.

The staff told them to answer the interview in Korean.

Of course, the staff didn’t have any bad intention, because they could naturally express themselves in Korean, and the staff could also understand what they said.
We had no choice but agreed to it. After we have settled the condition and the interview setting has been set, the 3 of them suddenly started to continuously complain to the staff.

After having us wait for 10 minutes, they said that the interview would be conducted and answered in Japanese.
I whispered to ask Yuchun, and it turned out that, they have persuaded the staff for our sake.

He told me, “Although we are in the US, it has been a long time since they were able to communicate with Japanese fans. We’ve been doing our best to study Japanese, so even if our Japanese is bad, we’d like to answer in Japanese.”

They haven’t changed.

They are still the polite and straightforward people that I met in Tokudane! studio back then.
When we started to film, Junsu said, “It has been a long time since we spoke Japanese so we’re getting very nervous”, and those were the first words of our interview.

At this moment, our FCI staff members are very busy, because we don’t want this to be just a 3-minute interview corner. We want to properly turn this into a special edition, so we’re doing our best to update our homepage.

Everyone, please don’t forget to watch their interesting interview!

[NEWS] JYJ Announces Global Album “The Beginning”, Kanye West Helps on The Production

Some big news coming from the JYJ (Jaejoong, Micky Yoochun, Xiah Junsu) camp as they’ve just announced a new global album release for “The Beginning”.

Here’s the exciting information below:

JYJ Announces “The Beginning”

New album from the ex-members of Asia’s top selling male vocal act “TVXQ” collaborates with international music superstars on global debut

JYJ, which includes 3 main members from arguably the biggest selling male vocal group in Asia “TVXQ” has teamed up with A-list US producers Kanye West and Rodney Jerkins for their global album debut “The Beginning”. The title of the album is synonymous with their journey to date and marks a first for the group to release an English language album.

JYJ has an enormous fan base worldwide and the trio made it to the Guinness Book Records in 2008 and 2009 for having the World’s Largest Official Fan Club at over 800,000 members in Seoul alone and being The Most Photographed Celebrities in the World shot an estimated 500 million times in magazines, albums jackets, and commercials from the time of their debut in 2003 to May 19 2009 with their former group.

The first single off the album “Ayyy Girl” is produced by Kanye West who lends his vocals to the song. It also features the maestro of spoken word, Malik “The Poet” Yusef. It’s a song that depicts the quest of seeking that perfect girl but when you find her, things are never quite as perfect as you envision it to be.

Besides the catchy first single by Kanye West, The Beginning also sees original compositions by top music producer Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins. The two tracks are “Empty” and “Be My Girl”.

Rodney Jerkins reportedly said,

“I’m really glad to work with JYJ on their debut album. It’s all about the East meeting the West these days and the world is becoming a melting pot of various cultures. To have Kanye and myself champion the cause of unifying the world through the international language of music and introducing top artistes from one end of the globe to this end in America makes this a very special project to us.”

Other than the creative collaborations with the US top producers onboard, JYJ who has been dabbling in songwriting since their teenage days, have also contributed a song each to the album. The tracks are ”Still in Love” Jaejung, ”I Can Soar” Junsu and ”I Love You” Yuchun.

Mr. Baek Chang Ju, the trio’s manager and CEO of C-JeS Entertainment, commented,

“We have faced many challenges in these recent months but are glad to complete an album which the boys are extremely proud of. The Beginning is a product of their blood, sweat and tears, and they hope fans will see the efforts that went into making this excellent album. As a partaker in their journey, I am so proud of them at this moment for what they have achieved.”

The album comprises of 7 tracks and 3 remixes. Jae Chong, one of Asia’s leading music producers has also contributed a track on it and played a big role in organizing and producing the overall project with the 3 members.

The Beginning is produced by Show Shop Entertainment and distributed by Warner Music worldwide. The album will be released on CD & digital formats from 12th OCT. There will also be a special limited edition `Luxury Package’ which will be numbered and limited to only 99,999 sets.

The first single “Ayyy Girl” will be made available via i-Tunes for download on the 19th of Oct.

New Album Showcase Tour 2010

JYJ will be embarking on an 8 city new album showcase tour from the 15th of Oct to the end of November in Asia and the US. More information on the confirmed tour stops can be found via www.jyj-thebeginning.com

JYJ comprises of three members from South Korea namely Kim Jaejung, Park Yuchun and Kim Junsu. They were originally from the boy band Dongbangshinki also known as “TVXQ” and “Tohoshinki” which is formed in 2003 in Korea. Known for their good looks, dancing skills and vocal capabilities, the boys took the Asian pop music market by storm. They were the first group to successfully spearhead the 2nd Korean Music wave into the Japanese market by becoming the first non Japanese act to have nine No. 1 singles on Japan’s Oricon Charts. In 2009, the trio left the band and went on to form JYJ. In June 2010, JYJ held their first concert under their new identity at the Tokyo Dome, singing to more than 200,000 fans from 43 countries around the world. To date, the concert DVD became the second fastest selling DVD in Japan this year shifting 140,000 copies in its first week of release.

[TRANS] 100716 Elle Girl – Winner of Changmin’s Autographed Polaroid Announced!

In the June Issue of Elle Girl, we had a plan to give away autographed Polaroids of Changmin. After the shoot for the August Issue, Changmin himself did the draw for the winners!

A Mountain of Postcard Applications!

For Changmin’s first appearance in Elle Girl for the June Issue, we planned the autographed Polaroid giveaway, and we received a huge response! From 12 May till now, the editorial department has been receiving postcards non-stop, and the final count was 4,793 postcards!

There were many handmade ones, and the staff were also thankful for the number of thoughtful postcards . We wanted send everyone’s feelings of passion to the man himself, so when we met him for the August issue photoshoot, we brought everything along!

Really Thankful for the Fans’ Thoughts!

After explaining about the postcards that were placed in front of him, “That’s Great!!” Changmin said in a very happy voice. From the postcards that had drawn images of himself, he checks the postcards one by one, occasionally breaking into an embarrassed laugh. It looked like he was happy that there were so many Japanese fans even though it has been quite a while.

Changmin hand-picks the winners

When we requested for Changmin to pick the winners, he immediately agreed! “It’s hard to only pick 3 names!” he said with a sigh. He was worried all the way, and considered really hard before he decided on the winners!

Winners Revealed!

With a probability of 1,597 to 1, Changmin picked these 3 super lucky people! When asked about why he decided to pick these winners, he said “ I wanted a balance between caricatures and illustrations! But I was honestly too confused, so I don’t really know why! (Laughs)”

For the many applications, Thank you very much!

For the winners, the Polaroids will be mailed to you shortly, please look forward to it.

(Winner Information Omitted)

For everyone who did not manage to win this time, as the August issue will have the Polaroid present as well, you must have your revenge!
